Yasmin Bootwala is a board-certified urologist with fellowship training in Urinary Tract Reconstruction and Pelvic Floor Surgery. After completing medical school at Baylor College of Medicine, she completed a five-year residency at Emory University in Atlanta and a 2-year reconstructive fellowship at MD Anderson in Houston. She has an extensive open and minimally invasive surgical training and enjoys treating all aspects of urology with a particular interest in pelvic floor surgery and voiding dysfunction. Dr. Bootwala believes in strong patient doctor communication, treating every patient with personalized care, shared decision-making and authentic informed consent.
Dr. Bootwala is an active professional member of the Society of Urodynamics, Female Pelvic Medicine, & Urogenital Reconstruction (SUFU), the Society for Women in Urology (SWIU), and the American Urological Association (AUA). She collaborates with Dr. Crista Johnson-Agbakwu and Arizona State University on research efforts pertaining to Optimizing Healthcare for Women affected by Female Genital Cutting. She assists with Cultural Competency workshops and surgical workshops for University of Arizona medical students.
Dr. Bootwala has a strong interest in global health and surgery. She worked in Uganda with International Volunteers in Urology as well as performed complex fistula repairs in Sierra Leone in partnership with the West Africa Fistula Foundation.
Happily married with two young boys, she enjoys traveling avidly with her family and exploring the outdoors on foot, by boat, by bicycle, or by car. Her travel adventures have taken her as close as the Phoenix canal system and nearby Joshua Tree and as far away as Sapa, Vietnam.Contact Us
