Introduction to Genetic Counseling

The certified genetic counselors at Ironwood Cancer & Research Centers new video, Introduction to Genetic Counseling helps patients understand the genetic component of their diagnosis.  They also consult with family members about cancer risk and explain their genetic test results. Our certified genetic counselors, Mandy Kass MS, CGC, and Rachel Mador-House, CGC, M.Sc., MSc collaborate with our multi-specialty cancer care providers to develop an individualized treatment plan for patients.

Genetic counseling is the process of advising individuals and families affected by or at risk of genetic disorders to help them understand and adapt to the medical, psychological and familial implications of genetic contributions to disease.

For some people, genetic testing can determine why their cancer developed. Genetic testing can also help detect certain cancers at the earliest possible stage.  Learn more about the Genetic Counseling process at Ironwood Cancer & Research Centers in this Introduction to Genetic Counseling video featuring Mandy Kass.
