Meet Kara Biber, RD
Hi! My name is Kara Biber, and I am the new Registered Dietitian at Ironwood Cancer & Research East Valley locations. I was born and raised in New Jersey, and moved to Arizona full time in 2013 after graduating from the University of Maine. I received my Bachelor’s in Exercise Science from the University of Maine in 2013 and my Bachelor’s in Nutrition in 2016 from Arizona State University .
I had the opportunity to complete my dietetic internship at Murray State University in Paducah, Kentucky, in 2017 and have been practicing as a Dietitian since then. Before starting at Ironwood, I was working as a clinical dietitian at a local Banner hospital.
I am currently completing my Master’s degree in Nutrition and becoming a board-certified specialist in oncology nutrition (CSO). My favorite things to do in my free time are swimming and hiking with my husband, daughter, and dog or playing board games and cards with my family.
When it comes to nutrition, focus on eating a variety of colorful fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins. A few times a week, replace your meat with a plant-based protein such as beans. Allow yourself to enjoy a sweet treat on occasion, and don’t feel guilty or ashamed when you do.
Kara Biber is a Registered Dietitian who received her Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nutrition from Arizona State University and Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Kinesiology from the University of Maine. Kara has been working as a clinical dietitian in the acute care setting over the past 3 years.
