Andrei Balandin, MD

Dr. Balandin joined Ironwood Cancer & Research Centers in September 2014. He received his medical degree in the Ukraine. He also was awarded a prestigious scholarship sponsored by the US Government and was studying at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he graduated from an MPH program.

Dr. Balandin also worked overseas (including Russia and Kazakhstan) helping local public health services. After moving to Louisiana, he completed his residency and fellowship at Louisiana State University and became board certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology and Medical Oncology. Dr. Balandin specializes in gastrointestinal malignancies and hematologic disorders. He is at present an investigator in research trials.

Dr. Balandin is actively involved in the education of medical students and residents from Midwestern University and serves as extended faculty.

He is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and American Society of Hematology. He is married and has two children. In his spare time, Dr. Balandin enjoys reading, photography, and travel. He is fluent in Russian, Polish and Ukrainian.
