Amikar Sehdev, M.D., M.P.H., F.A.C.P. is a board-certified medical oncologist and hematologist who has been practicing medicine for over 10 years. He received his medical degree from the Government Medical College and Hospital in Chandigarh, India where he was a National Merit Scholarship recipient. He has a master’s degree in public health with specialization in health promotion. He completed his residency at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County in Chicago, and his fellowship at the renowned University of Chicago.
Before joining Ironwood Cancer Research Centers, Dr. Sehdev has worked at Indiana University. During this time, he participated in many clinical research trials as the principal investigator and served in leadership roles. He has authored many publications in high-impact scientific journals and has presented his findings at ASCO meetings. He has served as a nominated panel member for writing the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) clinical practice guidelines for malignant melanoma. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and a member of the ASCO, the American Society of Hematology, and the American Medical Association.
Dr. Sehdev specializes in all forms of adult cancers and hematological disorders with special interest in gastrointestinal and skin cancers. His practice philosophy is to develop a high-quality individualized care plan by compassionately listening to his patients and integrating a team-based approach for the best outcomes. Aside from medicine, he enjoys running, reading, photography, playing chess and spending time with his wife and two children.
