Robert Yoo, DO, is board certified in both medical oncology and hematology by the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine. He joins Ironwood Cancer & Research with a clinical focus on cancers of the head and neck, advanced lung cancers, and blood cancers such as myeloma and lymphoma.

Before joining Ironwood, Dr. Yoo served as Director of the Brain and Spine Metastases Program at Barrow Neurological Institute, where he developed extensive expertise in managing central nervous system metastases across multiple tumor types, with a particular emphasis on leptomeningeal disease and heavily pretreated cancers. He is also experienced in the use of novel bispecific cellular therapies, including step dosing and the management of cytokine release syndrome.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Yoo is deeply committed to academic medicine. He served as an Assistant Professor at Creighton University School of Medicine and the University of Arizona College of Medicine–Tucson, where he actively taught internal medicine residents with a focus on evidence-based oncology and multidisciplinary care. He is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Hematology, and the Society for Neuro-Oncology.

Dr. Yoo earned his medical degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his internal medicine residency at Michigan State University and his fellowship in hematology and oncology at the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute, an affiliate of Wayne State University School of Medicine, where he served as chief fellow.

With a longstanding interest in genomics and tumor biology, Dr. Yoo is dedicated to advancing precision-based therapies to overcome treatment resistance. He emphasizes comprehensive, state-of-the-art patient care with treatment options that include immunotherapy, targeted therapies, and cancer vaccines. Dr. Yoo is fluent in both English and Korean.
