May is Bladder Cancer Awareness Month! Ironwood Cancer & Research Centers Urologist, Dr. Lauren Byrne explains the process of being diagnosed with bladder cancer. It is important for patients to understand early detection and the treatment options available.
Dr. Byrne says, “Bladder Cancer is this 4 most common malignancy in men and the 12th most common malignancy is women.”

Lauren Byrne MD, is certified by the American Board of Urology and has practiced in Phoenix since 2012. A 2001 graduate of Cornell College (Mt. Vernon, IA), she graduated from the University of Colorado School of Medicine (Denver, CO) in 2006, and completed her Urology Residency in 2012 at Case Western Reserve University Hospitals (Cleveland, OH), where she served as chief resident from 2011-2012. Dr. Byrne is trained and certified to perform robotic surgery.
