Ironwood Cancer & Research Centers to Break Ground in Goodyear

The City of Goodyear and Ironwood Cancer & Research Centers are excited to announce the groundbreaking of its newest healthcare facility in Goodyear, Arizona.

The new 28,634 -square-foot facility is specially designed on 6 acres, located at NWC of 159th Ave & McDowell. This project will employ approximately 52 full-time positions.

“Ironwood Cancer & Research Centers will be a fantastic addition to Goodyear’s Medical Innovation Corridor adding to the growing ecosystem of exceptional cancer care in the city of Goodyear,” said Mayor Joe Pizzillo. “In addition to Ironwood’s integrative approach to oncology care and treatment, they are bringing a research program devoted to assisting patients with obtaining greater access to groundbreaking technologies and medications to the community of Goodyear.”

Ironwood Cancer & Research Centers was founded in 1993 by Dr. Parvinderjit Khanuja.  Over time Ironwood has grown throughout metro Phoenix by merging with other patient-centered, high-quality cancer care providers and oncology practices.  Notable mergers included Desert Oncology the practice of Dr. Jon Paul Rubach, and Dr. Marvin Chassin, and Southwest Oncology founded by Dr. Jeffrey Issacs.  These strategic mergers have allowed Ironwood to offer Academic Cancer Care in a Community Setting®.

Today Ironwood has grown to 15 locations including 5 comprehensive cancer centers, a multi-specialty oncology network of over 100 providers, a robust Integrative Services program, a dedicated research department, and a growing Women’s oncology program.  With over 700 employees, their mission is Compassion through Kindness.

Services in Goodyear will include Radiation & Medical Oncology, CT & PET diagnostic imaging, state of the art radiation and the latest chemo & immunotherapy treatments, as well as Women’s oncology services.  Having all these services under one roof allows for daily collaboration among the different specialties and expedited personalized care.

“We chose to open in Goodyear because it is one of the fastest growing cities in the nation and was awarded the best place for a business in 2020; and the strong commitment the city of Goodyear has made to create a healthy community for their residents with access to quality healthcare and oncology services, as well as cultivating a robust environment for business,” said Brian Washburn, Executive Director for Ironwood Cancer & Research Centers. “In addition, the leadership at Ironwood Cancer & Research Centers is delighted to be breaking ground in Goodyear and looks forward to offering comprehensive and supportive care services in the West Valley.”

The addition of Ironwood Cancer & Research Center further enhances Goodyear’s rapidly expanding Medical Innovation Corridor, making it one of the largest medical and healthcare districts in the West Valley. The city is also home to other major medical facilities including Abrazo West Campus, the only fully designated Level 1 Trauma Center in the West Valley.
