Time to Get Your Mammogram

Has COVID-19 stopped you from getting your routine mammogram screening?   When COVID-19 surfaced earlier this year, many aspects of our healthcare routines were interrupted.  As a result, many women put getting their screening mammograms on hold which increased their risk of a delayed breast cancer diagnosis.  We know that the earlier a breast cancer is detected the greater the chance a woman has that cancer will be curable.

Our healthcare system has now adapted and has put many safeguards in place to keep patients safe while getting routine health services like mammograms.  The likelihood Is that COVID-19 will be around for years to come making it important that we no longer put off obtaining screening exams that can be lifesaving.

It is recommended that annual mammograms starting at 40 years of age.  So, if you are one of those women who put off getting your screening mammogram, now is the time to get it scheduled.
